The Provincial Health Officer is easing COVID-19 restrictions, while maintaining key protective measures.
Restrictions that are changing
听Starting Feb. 16 at 11:59 pm:
- No restrictions on indoor and outdoor personal gatherings.
- Full capacity allowed for:
- Indoor and outdoor organized events;
- Indoor events at venues;
- Exercise and fitness, adult sports activities and tournaments.
- Full capacity and no limits on table size in restaurants, bars, pubs etc.
The Provincial Health Officer will review the remaining protective measures by March 15, and again by April 12.
Restrictions that remain in place
- Masks required in all indoor public settings.
- 听to access many businesses, events and services (fitness centres, Chargers games, non-educational indoor events etc.).
- COVID-19 safety plans to remain in place.
The听听has been extended and covers events of all sizes. These include non-educational (i.e., non-essential or discretionary) activities, such as:
- Convocation ceremonies;
- Parties;
- Recitals;
- Concerts.
The card is not required for accessing classrooms, lab sessions, seminars and other formal educational activities. Nor is the card required for on-campus cafeterias.
The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the Provincial Health Officer continue to emphasize that structured educational settings are considered low-risk settings for COVID-19 transmission, particularly in the context of a highly immunized population and with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
